Why the fee changes the comparison
Kalshi quotes its prices before fees and charges the fee on top. A sportsbook’s odds already include its margin. To compare the two you have to put the fee back in, which is what every Kalshi price on Oddy does. See Kalshi vs sportsbooks for today’s live comparison, or the Kalshi odds converter for any single price.
Kalshi fee questions
How are Kalshi fees calculated?
Kalshi’s taker fee is 0.07 × contracts × price × (1 − price), rounded up to the next cent for the order. 100 contracts at 50¢ cost $1.76 in fees on top of $50.00. The calculator assumes you take the shown price (a taker order).
What is the most expensive price to trade on Kalshi?
50¢. The fee formula peaks there, at 1.75¢ a contract, and falls toward zero near 1¢ and 99¢. As a share of what you pay, though, the fee is largest on cheap contracts: 5¢ carries a 6.7% fee.
How do Kalshi fees compare to sportsbook vig?
A 50¢ Kalshi contract after its fee pays like -107. A standard sportsbook spread bet is −110, which costs more. On a typical moneyline the comparison goes either way, which is why Oddy shows Kalshi after fees next to every sportsbook.
What are Polymarket US fees on sports?
Polymarket US uses the same shape of fee with a rate of 0.0695: 0.0695 × contracts × price × (1 − price). The last column of the table shows it for 100 contracts at each price.
